at age 7, Colin learned the clarinet and won the Anthony Stephan Scholarship for best high
school musician in Schenectady County in 1968. He picked up the saxophone in college and
played in Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups before attending the Berklee College of Music in
Boston. He played for many years with the Magic Band of Sam Waymon (brother of the great
Nina Simone) and the World Music Group Sangha Tierra in New York.
Frank Mullen III has led U.S. Navy bands in performances throughout the United States, Asia,
and Australia, has toured the East Coast as musical director for a variety of entertainers, and now
lives quietly a few blocks from the Aledo Opera House. Having accompanied Bob Hope and
Bing Crosby in concerts and radio broadcasts, Frank is happy to add Bill Stroud to his list of
Great American Collaborators.
Bill Stroud grew up in Aledo and attended Aledo High School. He is not a professional
musician; the music teacher in the school he founded in New York City, the Baccalaureate
School for Global Education, declared him “an earnest amateur”. With the Aledo Opera House
event, he will be carried musically by Patrick, Colin, Frank, and the audience.PT1H30M2026-06-04Patrick Jones
